The boys of Rascal Flatts have done something no one else has done on their record label, debuted their third album, Feels Like Today, at the top of the Billboard 200. This youth driven group with it's core fan base of the younger country music fan has done it again, Feels Like Today is sure to be a big hit.
It seems they took a bit more time with this album than the previous two and it shows. In this listeners opinion it has more of an emotional appeal. But with the changes in the guys lives this past year (Garyís family expanded to include daughter number two, Jay got married and Joe Don moved into his new home in the Nashville area), it is to be expected. Despite the hectic schedules that the guys have, they still seem to be having fun. They have been reported to have said staying at the top of the music game is almost as hard as getting there. People tend to expect bigger and better each go round with CDs.
Feels Like Today gave this listener the impression that the guys are stretching their wings, speaking from their hearts and finding songs that reflect things that have happened in each of their lives. It seems to be more of a journey thru love, loss and things that have happened in each of their lives. With a few awards under their belts including the 2001 ACM New Vocal Group of the Year and the 2002 CMA Horizon Award, the guys are poised to reach the same heights as super group Alabama and the duo of Brooks and Dunn.
