In case any of you missed the premier of Disney Channels Original Movie Dadnapped in February you can catch it this week. The show will be showing on Thursday evening or Friday afternoon this week on Disney channel, check your local listing for the time.
Dadnapped stars Emily Osment as Melissa Morris, a teenage girl who feels like she is living in the shadow of Tripp Zoome (Jonathan Keltz), a fictional character created by her best-selling Author father Neil (George Newborn). Melissa and her father plan to go on a long-awaited father-daughter camping trip. Before they can start their vactaion, Neil makes a stop at a Zoome convention, and once again Melissa ends up feeling like Tripp is more important to her father than she is.
Neil is then kidnapped by obsessive fans, Wheeze (David Henrie), Andre (Moises Arias), and Sheldon (Denzel Whitaker). Which then leaves Melissa to rescue her father. When she finds them she is disappointed to learn that her father is no longer being held captive but is enjoying talking and scheming with some of his biggest fans.
Neil and Melissa leave the guys to start their camping trip when they are then kidnapped by brothers Maurice (Phill Lewis) and Skunk (Charles Halford). Maurice and Skunk are working with hotel owner Merv (Jason Earles). Wheeze, Andre, and Sheldon must then try to figure out how to rescue Melissa and Neil, they are able to keep on their trail by using clues left behind by Melissa.
Merv's evil plan consists of having Neil write the last Tripp Zoome book and then getting it published and keeping all the money. While Neil works at writing the book he lets Melissa know just how proud of her he really is. He even tells her that she is his inspiration for Tripp Zoome, and father and daughter reach a point in their relationship where they truly understand and respect each other.
Meanwhile Wheeze, Andre, and Sheldon get the other Zoome fans together to form a rescue team to find Melissa and Neil. Father and daughter are found and the bad guys arrested. And in true Disney fashion Wheeze gives his phone number to Melissa and Neil and Melissa head out on their long overdue vacation!
This is a cute movie that the whole family can enjoy together. Watching the movie together can give you the chance to talk about how acting different ways can make others feel. It also gives many opportunities to talk to your child about how proud you are of them!
