Happy New Year everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying this first month of 2005. I know I am. However, I am just a little anxious because I am retiring in February. Although I have been preparing for this for awhile, it's going to feel peculiar not having a rigid schedule.
Coincidentally I was asked to review a book titled "Looking Forward: An Optimist's Guide to Retirement". Other coincidental things have happened as well, so this Pisces child knows that this is definitely the right time to move in a different direction. Yah Vannie!. By the way, look for my review of "Looking Forward" in February, by that time I will have a small taste of what it means to be retired. Still thinking about what I should do about Social Security. Should I take it early or wait?? I would definately welcome e-mails on this one from those who have had to make the same early retirement decision.
With an eye towards leaving the workplace and as a former employment consultant, I offer some on the advice to those just entering the WP. Check out On The Job--Move Up From Administrative Entry Level. The article links to a list of excellent professional organizations.

Also, see the January Almanac, a short History of January Events. Actor Tony Randall was among the Public Figures We Lost in 2004. Many of you know Randall as Felix, the 'neat one' to Jack Klugman's Oscar, the 'grungy one' in the syndicated television show "The Odd Couple", he was 84 years old.
As always, please feel free to pass this information along.
