Why Republicans Must Win in 2008

Guest Author - Linda Sue Grimes

Republican policies result in a strong, prosperous America, and the following areas are especially vulnerable to defeat if a Democrat is elected president, and if more congressional seats are filled with liberal Democrats.

Iraq
The war is Iraq is winnable, and after the success of the surge, that fact has become more recognizable even to Democrats. Republicans do not make decisions based on the most illogical voices such as Moveon.org and the Hollywood elite who speak without knowledge.

Republicans, exemplified by President Bush, make strategic decisions based on the recommendations of those most closely involved—the military commanders. Unlike Democrats, exemplified by presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton, who are poll driven, Republicans focus on the job, not on what is perceived as most popular.

Taxes
Democrats want to increase taxes to support their socialistic agenda. Every Democrat presidential hopeful offers only plans that will enlarge the government by taking more of our money.

Republicans have devised plans to stop the growth of spending and balance the budget by 2012. President Bush’s tax cuts have already set the plan in action. A Democrat in the White House would reverse the progress the president has made.

Strict Constructionist Judges
Republicans, including the very liberal Rudy Giuliani, are dedicated to confirming strict constructionist judges, who will abide by the Constitution instead of usurping the role of the legislature. Democrats tried to obstruct the nomination process of both qualified candidates, Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, picked by President Bush. The Democrats want judges who will rewrite the laws that they do not like.

Senator Joe Biden has said he would appoint a woman, regardless of qualifications apparently, and all of the Democrat candidates confirm that Roe v Wade will be litmus test for their Supreme Court nominations. This kind of demagoguery flies in the face of fairness and justice in the judiciary.

Socialist-Style Medicine
Democrats want to convert our republic and free-market system into a socialistic one. That is why they pushed to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to include families with incomes up to $80,000 a year.

The purpose of SCHIP is to cover children not covered by Medicare. Republicans want to fund SCHIP, but they do not want it grow into a socialist handout. That is why President Bush vetoed the bloated bill passed by the Democrats.
