Is a Home Based Business For You?

People have home businesses for a number of reasons. Women often do so to make ends meet, help with expenses or are working towards a financial goal. Some simply have an urge to be a business owner. No one works harder than serious home business entrepreneurs. Working from home takes dedication and structure. It does no matter what you decide to market, you must be willing to work hard to make it a real business.

You must be willing to put in the extra time to make it a profitable business. If you are not willing or feel you don't have to time to do this, then, a home business may not be for you at this time.

What kind of home business will you have? If you have a special skill think of a way to market your talent. Good quality and well designed handmade and hand crafted products are always in great demand. Use the internet to see if there is a client base for what you have to offer.

You may want to go the way of direct marketing. Actors and actresss have jumped on the direct marketing gravy train, but people like us can benefit as well. Whether you decide to become an associate of a turn-key business such as Watkins, Avon, Mary Kay, etc. be ready to make it a real business by learning everything you can about your product and the history of the company.

. Buy business cards and use them. Do not hand out wrinkled, torn or dirty cards, no apology of "Sorry this is my last card" can wash away first impressions.

. Keep current catalogs with contact information on them in your car, brief case or a large handbag.

. Use the product yourself or ask someone in your family to use it, taste it or test it. If you or your family are not happy with the product, look for something else.

. Treat your home business with respect. If you don't no one else will.

I have been interviewing home business entrepreneurs online. Their responses have been open, honest and encouraging. I will be sharing their responses with our readers.

Hone your skills for work and family and you hone them for living life to the fullest
