Hip Maternity Wear for Expectant Moms of Twins
Guest Author - Kris Bigalk

When I began my twin pregnancy, I was a size eight. I soon moved on to maternity clothes in size medium, then large, then extra large, and then (in the final month or two), XXL. My bra size inflated six inches and three cup sizes. Such a rapid rate of growth made it hard to find clothes that both fit and looked nice. Here are some tips on how to find hip maternity wear for your entire pregnancy, no matter what your budget.

Brand Names To Look For

Japanese Weekend is a high-quality maternity clothing line. They used to have a set of clothing especially designed for mothers carrying multiples (you may be able to find it in thrift stores—see below). But even their regular line of clothing is great for twin moms, because it features built-in support for your belly and back. Meet Me In Miami is a fun maternity line featuring tops that drape the belly, allowing for fast expansion. If you find yourself going into the plus sizes, as I did, and you need something beautiful, check out Nicole Michelle, which also features elegant clothing in lower sizes.

Get the Support You Need!
There's nothing that can drag down your look like a poorly fitting bra. It's worth paying a little extra for a high-quality bra, because of the additional comfort and support they provide. Seek out a maternity store or department store that offers professional fitting, and/or read this article on how to fit a maternity bra:Maternity Bra Fitting Guidelines.

Be Thrifty
Many women don't feel comfortable spending a lot of money on maternity clothes. After all, you can only wear them for a few months, and there's so much to be bought to get ready for the babies. That doesn't mean you need to wear cheap maternity clothes, though. Look for thrift stores or consignment shops that have maternity clothes. I found a thrift shop in a swanky suburb that had a large section of maternity wear, mostly with designer labels. I bought like-new dresses and jeans that had cost hundreds of dollars for less than ten dollars a piece!

Network
Call up your friends who have had kids and ask if they still have any maternity clothes they would lend you. I received a few outfits this way, and when I passed the XL size and couldn't get out much, the moms from my local twins club lent me clothing.

Being pregnant with twins gives you twice the glow—remember, you're beautiful, and it's OK to spend a little bit of time and money on yourself as you get ready to welcome these babies into the world!
