Cheap Eats - The Orwell Diner You know that bar where "everybody knows your name"? Well, the Orwell Diner is like that. This small, cozy restaurant is located smack dab in the middle of Orwell, a tiny rural town in northern New York. There's no general store in Orwell, in fact, there aren't any stores at all. There's a church, the fire department, a town hall and a post office. So the Orwell Diner serves as a meeting place for the townspeople. Many people meet there for coffee in the morning, and the local church group meets there on Wednesdays for lunch. You'll find friendly folks here. Even if it's your first visit, you'll feel right at home. And there's good home cooking at very reasonable prices. The restaurant has daily specials, like chicken and biscuits and macaroni and cheese and homemade soups. If you go, try their "Country Scramble" - eggs, cheese and ham served with toast and a mountain of home fries, all for under $5. The Village Café is open seven days a week, 7 am to 2 pm. | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site MapContent copyright © 2008 by Brenda Potter Reynolds. All rights reserved.
