Style Watch - Tracee Ellis Ross

Aside from being daughter to legendary Supremes singer, Diana Ross, Tracee Ellis Ross sets her own path of fierceness. She has acting chops and comedic savvy, but most importantly, impeccable style. Wearing everything from designer labels to vintage pieces has made Ross a fashion muse. She graced the covers of Essence, UPTOWN and Vibe Vixen magazines, among others. Pop culture is wooed by her eclectic closet.

Her ability to take fashion risks and nail it every time is uncanny. In the March 2015 issue of Essence magazine, the actress is decked in a multi-fabric top that is tucked in a peacock printed pencil skirt. The ensemble is a seamless fusion of mixed material and color blocking.

In Elle magazine, Ross stands statuesque in an all-white tank top dress with a long white blazer that can double as an overcoat. The style is reminiscent of Solange Knowles’ wedding pictures with her all-white tribe of bridesmaids. The look is pristine and Ross tops everything off with her naturally curly afro.
The actress’ tresses are no stranger to the masses of women who simply adore her curls. Ross’s hair is a fashion statement on its own. It is big, fluffy and regal. She wears it up in a top knot, braided and sometimes straightened or lightly blown out. Although her trendsetting styles are often duplicated and envied, Ross encourages ladies to embrace their own hair textures.

Her humility is evident in other areas too. People magazine featured the actress in their News section where Ross explained that she feels comfortable in her own skin. She stays toned, and removes sugar, gluten and dairy from her diet. She even posed for the magazine’s no makeup shoot. Ross admitted to being insecure about weight gain while on her hit sitcom Girlfriends. Thankfully, she accepts her body now and is currently an advocate for positive body image.

It is refreshing to have a fashion icon in pop culture that is humble, stylish and talented. Attracting people with outer beauty is common, but having substance is priceless. If she is not engaging you with her comedic savvy, perhaps, Ross still offers her wisdom and daring fashion on her website TraceeEllisRoss.com. This lifestyle website covers a day in the life of Tracee Ellis Ross. There are segments on food, wellness, hair, beauty, and of course, style. She even engages her fans in Q & A and talks candidly about her experiences as a woman.

Ross is influential across platforms. She stays relevant on television, radio, social media and fashion. She is a force to be reckoned with and the world is definitely watching!
