The Wrong Girl Review
Boston newspaper reporter Jane Ryland was contacted by a former co-worker who had been fired because of inappropriate fraternization with a source, which as a major no-no in the publication business. In fact, Jane was reluctant to take her call, but finally gave in and ended up with the story of her life.

Tucker Cameron was looking for her birth mother for a number of years to no avail. Then, out of the blue, Brannigan Family and Children Services called to tell her they had found her birth mother. They also told Tuck her real name was Audrey Rose Beerman. When she met her real mother, she had a strong suspicion the woman is not really her mother.

In the meantime, Detective Jake Brogan and his partner are at a crime scene where a young woman had been killed. Her two children were in the home at the time. As Jake processed the scene, he realized there must have been a third child and wondered what happened to who he believed was the youngest child in the home.

He also couldn’t find out who made the 911 call letting them know of the murder.

As Jane worked to find out the truth about Tuck’s adoption, and Jake sorted through clues to find out who the murder victim was and what happened to the young child, the underground couple realized they were both headed the same direction, to the Brannigan to find out what in the world was happening at the respected adoption agency.

The Wrong Girl (Jane Ryland Book 2) by award-winning author Hank Phillippi Ryan is a follow-up to The Other Woman featuring news reporter Jane Ryland and Detective Jake Brogan. Ryan is also the author of four mystery novels as well.

The Wrong Girl provides a chilling look behind the scenes of a highly respected adoption agency. A look that will send chills through anyone who cares what happens when children are placed in what are hoped are warm, safe homes.

Ryan handles the sensitive topic with care while also ensuring readers understand the depth of the depravity of those who abuse power in an effort to amass a fortune at the expense of others. This novel at times is difficult to read, but is well worth finishing.
