Instructions:

R: 8 + (to next Rick Rack mount) 8. Clr, RW.

CH: 6 - 3 - 6. RW.

*R: 8 + (to a Rick Rack mount - see picture) 8. Clr, DNRW.

R: 8 + (to next Rick Rack mount) 8. Clr, RW.

CH: 6 + (to the previous chain's picot) 3 - 6. RW.*

Repeat from * to * until you have 8 groups of rings and chains. Be careful to join the last chain to the first chain.

Join to the base of first ring. Cut and Tie. Cut the Rick Rack diagonal and matching the end to the continuity of the Rick Rack, glue it together with fabric glue or sew with a few stitches with matching thread color. You can add a little charm in the middle space of the motif.

Before beginning the motif, you should consider placing holes in the points (mounts) of the rickrack to which the tatting will be joined. A bobbin lace pattern pricker is ideal for this. It is basically a pencil-like tool with a sharp point embedded at the end. For further details, please view: https://visual.merriamwebster.com/arts-architecture/crafts/bobbin-lace_2.php

Place thick padding beneath the rickrack so the pattern pricker does not mar your table surface.

If you would like to practice using the rickrack before starting the round motif, try this vintage sample.
