Bookry.com Memory Game Widget Graphics
The digital version of the all time favorite Memory Game is easy to create using the Bookry.com Memory widget. When I decided to republish my T'was the Night Before Christmas book app in iBooks AuthorR, I found the Bookry widgets for iBooks Author a great way to maintain the interactivity of the book app in the ibook.

So just what graphics would you need to create the Memory game widget. One nice feature of making a game for a digital book is that the graphics are already created for the book. This is one time reusing the graphics can enhance the book experience.

Background
For the game section of the book and app, there is a background image of the game screen. The details are concentrated at the top and bottom of the image, leaving the play area in the center empty for game pieces.

Cover/Startup
This is the image that will display during the loading of the widget. If you do a search for the memory game, you will see many images containing a grid of squares or cards. Most of the card backs are displayed with only a few cards flipped to show matching graphics. Even Bookry's default Cover image transmits this message.

As you can see, we can also use this type of image for the Cover/Startup image. It is the background image with some game pieces in place.

Start/Winning/Time Limit
Bookry has defaults for these three images. As you can see, they are nice but not great for our holiday theme. So, we can continue the theme by creating our own images. The three colored Xmas ornaments each have their own text message. The purple ornament with the Start text will display when the widget has loaded and the player will click on the image to start the game and timer. The green ornament with the You Win text will display when the player wins the game and the red ornament with the Time's Up text will display when the player runs out of time.

Game Cards
Finally, we need the images for the game cards. These images are taken from the pages of the book. The card back is a generic holiday tree image.

Bookry determines the size for these images so that the game will be optimized. Except for the times when a transparency is necessary, the images can be .jpgs.
