2010 Dodge Challenger

The 2009 Dodge Challenger boasts plenty of muscle and just the right amount of kick to bring back memories of the free-wheeling 70's when muscle cars were born.

As much fun as those cars were and are to nostalgics, the three 2009/2010 model Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, and Dodge Challenger, leave the bygone models in the dust.

Back since 2008, this year's Challenger offers a 376 horse 5.7 liter Hemi V-8. It's also available with a 6 speed manual transmission. At over 4,000 lbs., it's the biggest of the big three by far. It may not win in a quarter mile sprint, but lock in those 6 gears along a mile or more and this big pony is right at home.

With a base price starting around $30,000 and fully loaded at close to $40,000, the Challenger is not inexpensive (I just couldn’t say cheap). But if this is your car and gas mileage is not important to you, it's probably worth every penny.

As for its looks, most unbiased (if there truly are any) judges pick the Challenger with its R/T racing stripes and chrome features. If you choose the familiar orange with black interior you'll certainly get noticed and be the envy of all other 4-wheeler's on the road. Keep in mind though that Smokey will take notice too so try to keep this tiger somewhat tame.

While just a tad slower than its GM and Ford brothers, it still delivers an exhilarating ride and sports the largest cabin of the three.
The Challenger is also the only muscler to offer an unlimited warranty on the drive train.
The Challenger drinks unleaded premium unlike the Mustang and has a 19 gallon gas tank. Of course, the bigger the better as you'll only get about 16 mpg. in the city and 25 mpg. on the highway. Does anybody really drive these cars in the city ?

The Challenger comes standard with 245/45R20 99v Goodyear Eagle RSA tires, but if you can, buy the 245/45ZR20 Pirelli's. You'll notice the difference in cornering.

If these three warriors were collectively going to battle on the highways of America, the Challenger would not be the most nimble. It would certainly be the leader though with its size, power and good looks.
