What Is Instagram Archive

What Is Instagram Archive
Are you changing the theme of your Instagram feed? Or maybe you have older posts that are just outdated? Well, Instagram has a new feature that can help you organize and maintain your feed.

It's becoming very important to have a theme for your Instagram feed. It's not enough now to just post any image that will display next to your previous posts. Now, the trend is to give your Instagram feed a theme, with all the post images blending together beautifully on the screen. Of course this takes a lot of work and dedication.

After you do all that work creating and maintaining the theme for your Instagram feed, what do you want to do with all those old posts that stick out like a "sore thumb"? And what about those out-of-date posts? Do you have an urge to just delete them but you're not sure what affect that will have on your feed's performance? And of course, you don't want to lose the comments and other information associated with these posts.

One nice feature on Pinterest is the private boards. With private boards, you can collect pins for a private project or hide an old, out-of-date board from public view.

Instagram must have liked that idea because they have released a new feature, which they call Instagram Archive. This feature allows you to determine any of your posts as "private", making it only visible to you. But don't worry that it's gone for good. You can easily unarchive these posts in the future. Also, while a post is archived you can still access the stats and comments.

But this new feature isn't just for hiding old posts or changing your theme. You can use the Archive feature to hide posts that need to remain hidden until a certain date. For example, you might have plans to offer a discount that you wish to announce at a certain date. Instead of scrambling on that day to upload the posts, just do it before hand, archive the posts at that time and then unarchive the posts on the day that you wish to announce the sale.

How to Archive a Posts

  1. From your profile, select the post that you wish to archive.

  2. On the post page, click the Menu icon on the right of your user name.

  3. Choose the Archive option from the pop-up menu.

Your post is now privately archived. To view your archived posts, go to your profile page and click the Clock icon to the right of your user name.

How to Unarchive a Posts

  1. Back on your profile page, click the Clock icon to go to your archive.

  2. Select the thumbnail for the post that you wish to unarchive.

  3. On the post page, click the Menu icon on the right.

  4. Choose the Show On Profile option from the pop-up menu.

The post will be placed in its original location within your feed.
