Rugging with Julie
Guest Author - Eva Owsian

Let me introduce you to Rugging with Julie who certainly has perfected the technique of Scandinavian loop weaving or as most of us know it as toothbrush stitch. You will want to take a look at every page on the website. They (and I use they because she is certainly lucky enough to have her husband working by her side) have covered all the basis to learning this technique.

They offer “starts” that will help you get the hang of the stitch, fabric, needles, book of patterns, and what I really want to talk about is the instructional DVD or video. This is a must have for anyone interested in this technique and the price is right. Even if you already know how to do this stitch, I promise you that you will learn so much more with the DVD. They have included how to make ovals, circles, baskets, heart shapes and a section on “inventions”.

I have watched it twice and the second time around I picked up a few more pointers. One of the things that I really liked about it was it was filmed in their living room, which sets up a nice relaxing atmosphere to learn in. Since Ms. Julie is left handed, her husband is working right beside her right handed, which makes this learning DVD the first of it’s kind . So it won’t matter if you are right or left handed, you will be able to see both ways in action.

For you single ladies, Ms Julie will show you “how to get a man”. This is just about the cutest informational video out there and it would certainly be a huge asset to your rug making library.
