Fabulous, fantastic, sexy, stylish and amazing, all of these words can be associated with high fashion but should they be reserved solely for high fashion or can they be interchangeable for high fashion with low price tags.

With all the things we’ve been through this year our fashion budget has taken a real hit and while many department stores have steep discounts, lets face it, sometimes the latest “gotta have it” fashion find still has the “can’t afford it’ price tag. In these cases we have a few options, one of which is to take a picture. Most of us have a mobile phone with a camera so why not put it to use, take a snap shot of that bracelet, necklace or jacket and then go to the nearest discount store (Target or Kohl’s) and use that picture as a reference to find a similar match.

We know Cardigans, Trench Coats, Boots and Shawls will be a must have this season but why should you pay over $150 for these items when you can get some of the same styles and colors from between $30-$60. Some of the department stores like J.C. Penny or Old Navy could have just what you’re looking for at just the price you’re looking for

Another option would be the “second thought” stores, you know those stores you walk past and say to yourself “on second thought”. The merchandise is brand name but cheaper due to imperfections, overstocks or design closeouts. These stores do take a little bit more time out of your day because everything has to be matched and there are very few “complete outfits” but for the price it would be worth it.

Lastly (my favorite) buy what you love and don’t discuss the brand. This gives you the choice to shop anywhere and not give a single thought to the brand. This is not to say brand names are “evil” but no one should feel forced to ignore a great fashion find because it was created by an unknown designer.

True style is based on finding fashion that allows you to be true to who you are and where you want to go. So go ahead, reach for the classic, chic, bohemian or contemporary “you” just remember to always keep it simple and sexy in the process.
