T-Boo Party

Whenever T Broussard and the Zydeco Steppers are in the house you can be certain that you are in for a high energy evening of Zydeco music and dance. He is there to party and the dancers are there to have a real good time. From the first cord of his accordion and the first beat of the drum, the dancers are on their feet driven by the irresistible Zydeco beat. The dancers get high off the tangible energy generated by T and his band members. Then, T brings the energy level up another notch. Everybody is smiling and everybody is having fun!

For the three to four hours per gig – T and his band always give it their all. The energy level starts high and stays high all night long. You can count on the dancers coming out for a scheduled T Broussard and the Zydeco Steppers event because they know the band consistently delivers traditional Zydeco with energy and zest. Yet, T has a style of his own and once you have heard him live, you will readily recognize his unique sound.

The first time I danced to T-Broussard, I thanked him during the break for delivering a terrific party. His response was that he appreciated the compliment because he and the band members were at the end of a three week tour and they were all tired. I wondered what NOT tired was like because the place was hopping.

T's given name is Bryant Keith Broussard and he makes his home in Jennings, Louisianna. He is joined on stage by June Barfield on guitar, Lil Raymond on Bass, Lil Bryan on scrubboard, all from Lake Charles and Eddie on drums from Jennings.

On his "It's All Good" CD, T penned and sings a tribute song thanking his momma for passing on the Zydeco heritage. I admire his public love, respect and gratitude toward his momma. T is the son of Mary Jane Ardoin, a renowned Creole accordionist. He is also the grand nephew of Bois Sec Ardoin and Carlton Frank, both legendary Creole musicians. The Creole tradition and Zydeco music is his heritage as it is his cousins Keith Frank, Chris, Dexter and Sean Ardoin. T started out his music career studying under his mother, first learning scrubboard and drums then later moving up the accordion to lead his own band. He has since come into his own with a band that is tight and in sync with a mission to carry on the Zydeco tradition into the next generation.

Ts latest CD is "Git it On, Git it On" delivers 11 driving Zydeco numbers. It is available for sale through T's web site. My personal favorites are "T-Boo Party", "T Broussard's in the Land", and "3 o'clock in the Morning." He's currently working on a new CD and I, for one, am anxiously waiting its release.
