Greetings everyone;

MAY NEWS CHANGE FOR JUNE

I recently saw the movie Crash. I wanted to review it for our Mystery Movies column since it is a detective story of sorts. It was not what I expected. The basic premise is that we often make decisions based on ethnicity or skin color before looking beyond that, and when we do look past the obvious, we still have problems with our perceptions. The race relations (or non-relations) you see here are raw and ugly. Intolerance, bigotry, anger, distrust, fear, nationalism at its worse, you name it, it's shown in Crash. This is a day in the life of a cop. This is not a feel-good movie, but there is something about it that won´t let you walk away. Some of the stars are Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Esposito, Larenz Tate, Loretta Devine, William Fichtner, Ludacris and Michael Pena. Good enough for an Academy Award nomination? I think yes. Rated R.

By the way I also saw Miss Congeniality 2 with Sandra Bullock as an odd duck detective. I know that the movie received some knocks but I liked it. It was fun and made me laugh. I still have a problem with seeing William Shatner, the former proud and slightly supercilious Captain James T. Kirk (StarTrek) in the condition that he is today, he does not look like he is in good health.

Here are some of Mystery Movies latest articles and reviews:

Movie Review for The Interpreter (2005) It's been a while since I have seen a movie this good. Silvia Broome, (Nicole Kidman), is an interpreter for the United Nations. While leaving the U.N. she overhears a plot to kill African head of state. Te problem is, no one believes her assassination attempt story.

Black and white thriller: The Uninvited (1944) As ghost stories go, The Univited is by far one of the best. This mystery/paranormal movie has everything, mystery, a ghost, romance and beautiful music in the background. Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey star as brother and sister, Roderick and Pamela Fitzgerald. When siblings buy a beautiful old house (Windward House) overlooking the ocean, they have no idea what awaits them in their new home.

Miss Marple Update. May 22 On PBS, see part two of What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw Starring Geralding McEwan. I notice that other PBS stations are repeating the part I, so if you missed it, check it out. When Mrs. McG sees a murder committed on the train speeding by, she feels duty bound to report it. The problem is no one believes her except her good friend, Miss Marple. Miss Marple and her friend Lucy Eyelesbarro decide to help prove what Mrs. McGillicuddy saw was no figment of her imagination, nor was it a dream. Lucy has gotten herself hired in a home near the spot the 4:50 train passes. Can she and Miss Marple prove Mrs. McGillicuddy right?

If you have questions concerning mystery movies, especially old mystery or noir movies simply post your question in our Mystery Movie forum and I will answer you. If I don't know, I am sure that one of our readers will.

Until the next time, Keep watching those wonderful mystery movies. And as always please feel free to pass this on.
