Saint Motel Review

Saint Motel Review
By mixing upbeat pop melodies with unique rhythms and uncanny flair, Saint Motel’s music is indie dream pop at it’s finest. Their musical savvy, sophisticated sound and obvious ability to stand out from the crowd makes this foursome from Los Angeles the latest emerging band to check out.

Forming in 2009 after meeting in film school in Southern California, Saint Motel consists of bandmembers A/J Jackson (lead vocals/guitar), Aaron Sharp (lead guitar), Dak (bass), and Greg Erwin (drums).

After being signed to the recording label On the Records, Saint Motel released their first six-song EP, titled ForPlay, before recording their debut full-length album on July 10, 2012. The album is titled Voyeur and contains hit songs like “Puzzle Pieces,” "Daydream / Wetdream / Nightmare," and “At Least I Have Nothing.” All three of these songs (as well as the majority of their additional recordings) have upbeat melodies and pop beats, however after watching the videos and listening to the lyrics you will quickly realize that they have inserted a touching meaning that tells a story while still keeping things fun.

The inventive “garage glam” sound of Saint Motel and the fact that they're already known for their wildly fun live shows is what is going to skyrocket this quartet to the top of the music industy's podium. I personally love that Saint Motel has upbeat melodies and relatable, "story-telling" lyrics that allow the listener to both dance and sing along with feeling at the same time - having the opportunity to belt out my emotions while having fun and shaking my groove thang (away from the public's eye, of course) is something that I look for in a band and overall musical selection.
