Southeast Asia Visa and Passport Requirements - Batam Indonesia

Guest Author - Taisha Turner

Entry into Batam, Indonesia requires a passport and visa. A passport valid for six months with a blank page is necessary. A visa for a three day and a thirty day period is available upon docking on shore.

Batam, Indonesia will issue a visa on arrival (VOA). Citizens of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) do not have to pay a fee with their application. Americans and most other countries have to pay a fee when applying. It is US$10.00 for a three day visa. A thiry day visa is $US25.00. Some foreign nationals have to secure a visa from an Indonesia embassy before arrival on the island.

The process is simple with a valid passport and funds. Bring the exact US dollars because the exchange rates are poor. You will lose funds on the transaction.

Afterwards, you are free to explore the island of Batam, Indonesia for the period of the visa. Taxi cabs are on the quay to take you to your desination. There is a free, short video to orientate first time visitors.

There is a link in the upper right corner to the Indonesian Diplomatic and Consular Missions around the world. Also, there are links to previous Southeast Asia articles on Batam, Indonesia. They will inform you how to reach the island from Singapore and things to do on arrival.

Tired of carrying toiletries in plastic bags. Items unable to dry out. Everything smells of mildew. The soap bar is mushy. Invest in a hanging toiletry kit. Its' material is breathable, allowing air to circulate and items to dry. It hangs on doorknob or shower head, in arm's reach. Take out an item and replace it in the bag when finished. No more leaving personal items behind. The kit holds toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, lotion, shampoo, hair conditioner, deordorant plus more. Get the kit size which fits your needs.
