Think Pink This Spring!
Guest Author - Susan Dorling

Pink is hot! It’s dramatic and fun. Whether it is clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, accessories, or even home décor—pink in all its wonderful nuances and colour depths is sizzling and sassy, fresh as spring, and so today. Complimentary to most skin tones, and with the amazing power to make even the potentially boring color of brown, especially dark chocolate, ‘pop’, pink, like its exciting cousin, turquoise, works like crazy in a multitude of ways.

Everyone can wear pink clothes, but not everyone does. Pink is just one of those colors that require from the wearer a certain savoir faire, an air of confidence to pull it off. Note how some men can wear pink shirts or ties, and still look so masculine. Some women wear pink like it’s second nature, and look wonderful. Pink clothing requires one to be confident enough about oneself to wear such a noticeable and lively color. Certainly, the quiet and feminine pastel and blush pinks have been worn for years, and they are easy to wear. But there are so many layers to pink—the deeper the shade of pink, the more unusual the hue—the more outstanding, and the less likely that everyone will wear it. Even though it has long been considered a ‘girly’ color, pink is definitely not for the timid.

What I like about pink jewelry is that many outfits can benefit from a dab of pink here, a flash of pink there. And even if you don’t ‘do’ pink clothes, most women love pink jewelry and wear it well. Like the chocolate browns that love pink—there is also cream, silver, black, some blues and yellows, and, of course, all greens that are enhanced by wearing pink jewelry. Pink can be worn in individual pieces like rings in pink sapphire, pink cz’s, even pink glass. Sets of pink jewelry like varying tones of a pink beaded necklace with pink bracelet and matching beaded hoop earrings work very well to brighten up neutral toned clothing. Pink adds a soft and sensuous note to any outfit. Pink necklaces, whether they are pink rubber or leather chokers with pendants, Swarovski crystal pearls, cultured pearls, or pink gemstones like spinel, pink sapphire, natural Malaia garnet, rhodocrosite, pink tourmaline, and others make beautiful pink jewelry to flatter your outfit, skin tone, and generally jazz up your whole look.
