Gizmondo Release News

The Tiger Gizmondo is currently slated for a September release - pushed back from the Aug 11 2005 date given at the May E3 conference.

The Gizmondo has proven extremely popular in Europe, where its many unique features set it apart from the handheld gaming crowd. For one thing, it features a built in camera as well as a built in GPS system.

Imagine if you will that you and your friends are running around the school, and your Gizmondos know where you are in relationship to each other. One of you can be the "pacman" and the others can be "ghosts" trying to catch pacman. The Gizmondo could tell the Pacman to "see" bright yellow objects in order to get points, all the while avoiding the ghost people. The real life possibilities are endless!

The people at Gizmondo Central are promising a schedule of at least one new game every week, to encourage Gizmondo buyers that there will be a steady stream of fun to buy. The current roster includes a variety of sports, driving, puzzle, and adventure games.

The Gizmondo also sports a gyroscope so that it senses how the game unit is being held, as well as the standard features of playing movies and music.

The only real question now is the price of the unit. Some estimates are that the Gizmondo will cost twice as much as other units on the market right now. We'll have to wait for September to roll around, and see!
