My Virtual Model

I have had a lot of searches for My Virtual Model this month and while it has been in the links fashion area, no one has been able to find it using the search. I thought I better make it easier.

This is one of the coolest sites. You can create a model of yourself using your body measurements, height, weight, face shape, skin tone, hair colour and style then try clothes on before you buy them online. Depending on where you build your model you may find a weight or plus sign to increase her size. I find the one you enter a number to be easier.

The website has a registration process but you can test building your model without registering. If you want to try things on you need to register and save your virtual model.

Surprisingly, only a handful of retailers offer this service: Adidas, Land's End, Sears, H & M, Speedo, Glamour, Marie Claire, iVillage, gURL and Shop etc. Each one's default model is a little different (gURL is a little plumper). Most had problems with weights over 225 except Sears which goes to 250.

L.L. Bean used to have one but they discontinued it a month ago. I didn't get a reason but I assume it is because it was not used. I think it would be great if the plus size online stores had this especially the ones who only use mannequins to display their merchandise.

If you want your online retailers to carry this feature then send them the link and encourage them to get their own virtual model. Or email Virtual Model asking them to add plus size retailers (or a better plus size virtual model).

Warning: addictive.
