Figuring out your face shape will allow you to choose the perfect hair style. Different facial shapes will look better with specific hair styles. Choosing the correct style will allow you to look more youthful and professional. Let's discuss some helpful tips in making the proper choice.

Determining Face Shapes

Face shapes will differ in measures, but there are several basic shapes everyone will hold. Facial shapes include oval, round, oblong, heart shape, diamond, and square. Look in the mirror and look at the outline of your face. Determine the main shape it represents the most. If you have trouble determining your shape, ask a friend to help you.

Oval Face Shapes - This face shape will resemble an oval. Generally, an oval face will be twice as long (up and down) as it is wide. The shape is well balanced and impartial. Just about any hairstyle will look great on this face!

Round Face Shapes - If your face is the same width from side to side, and up to down, then you have a round face. In this situation, there are several choices which will flatter your face. Choose a style which gives you height at the crown. You can part your hair on the sides to give you a more balanced look. Stay away from shorter hairstyles, if possible.

Oblong Face Shapes - When you have an oblong face, your width will be shorter than the length. Choosing a hair style with layers will compliment your facial shape. This is especially true around your face. Choosing this option will add softness to your appearance. Avoid really long hairstyles which will make your face to appear too long.

Heart Face Shapes - Individuals with a heart shaped face will have a narrow chin and a wide forehead area. Their cheeks may also appear wide in comparison. The perfect hair style for this individual is the short bob. Using this style will allow the face to look more balanced. Some longer hairstyles will also compliment this face providing they do not have height in the crown area.

Diamond Face Shapes - When an individual holds a diamond shaped face, they will have wider cheekbones with smaller chin and forehead areas. If your face is truly diamond shaped, you can wear a variety of hair styles and will look wonderful.

Square Face Shapes - Square facial shapes are nearly as wide as they are long. Individuals with this face shape are encouraged to wear short, or medium, hairstyles. Using wispy bangs can also add favor to the appearance. Avoiding long straight hair styles will allow you to look your best!
