Catholic Charities Aids Hurricane Katrina Victims

Catholic Charities Aids Hurricane Katrina Victims

Catholic Charities agencies from around the region are preparing to assist Catholic Charities agencies in the areas impacted by this latest disaster. Focusing on providing long-term recovery work, some of the services Catholic Charities may be able to offer include temporary and permanent housing, aid to help residents return home, medical and prescription drug assistance, and job placement counseling.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami has already begun to aid South Florida residents affected by Hurricane Katrina with the distribution of food, baby items and other supplies. Additional help they will provide include assistance with shelter, medicine, rent and utilities, as well as mental health counseling.

Catholic Charities agencies, recognized by Smart Money magazine as one of the most efficient charities, now serve more than seven million people per year with an excess of over 1,600 agencies and institutions throughout the country.

Catholic Charities USA, the membership association of one of the nation's largest social service networks, is collecting financial donations to help those communities impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Donations will fund agencies' emergency and long-term disaster relief efforts.
