Bonnie Raitt - Vibrant, Flamboyant Hair

Blues and rock artist, Bonnie Raitt is still in her prime at age 56. She wears wild, full hair that fits her star image.

Her Hair color
Her beautiful light red-auburn hair color is vibrant and youthful. Red tones are flattering and add warmth to an aging complexion. An attractive white streak accentuates the front hairline. Ms Raitt isn’t afraid to admit to some white hair but she doesn’t let it over-power her either. Leaving a small streak of white at the front hairline looks very natural and acts as a highlight. It also serves as camouflage when the new growth appears.

To get this look, simply section off a strand before tinting your hair. Make sure that the strand of hair is positioned attractively so that it flows into your hairstyle. While tinting your hair, protect the strand by saturating it with conditioner and clipping it out of the way during the process. Apply the tint to the rest of your hair and process for the recommended length of time. If possible, rinse most of the tint from your hair without wetting the white section. After you have removed the majority of the tint, remove the clips from your streak and shampoo your entire head. Follow with a good quality moisturizing conditioner.

Her Style
Curly or wavy hair that is tinted is often lacks moisture causing it to appear frizzy. Shampoo and condition with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Apply hair serum (such as ARTec Kiwi Blow Serum) and a firm-hold styling foam. Blow the root area of your hair dry for fullness and use a diffuser on the ends to encourage the wave. When your hair is dry, scrunch in hair crème to moisten frizzy ends and to return the curl. Comb your hair using only your fingers.

To get this look on straight hair:
Blow your hair dry for fullness, then section it into six or seven large chunks. Set each section with a small hot roller. Remove the rollers when they are cool. Put a small amount of hair crème in your hand and rub your hands together to emulsify it, then comb your fingers through your hair to tame and separate the waves.

Her cut
Ms Raitt’s hair falls below her shoulders in a blunt cut. Long layers help to release the wave and allow for fullness. A few shorter layers in the front add height and serve to keep the hair out of her face giving her a more youthful, uplifted appearance.
