Pop this CD into your player and let the praise party begin! Opening with Darwin using his resounding voice to call everybody to say with "one loud voice" "Lord We Rejoice" this project kicks off with a high tempo spirit of total praise. "Rejoice" is festive, fun, and happy and yet it allows the listener to worship with a full heart. Written by Hobbs and the men of the hour Israel Houghton and Aaron Lindsey, the unique sound that has marked the albums of Houghton is displayed with each key of this track. Best of all the man who has been described at the "Luther Vandross" of gospel shows why he is all that and so much more. Yes Darwin Hobbs is all that and a bag of chips! Only the vocal styles of Darwin Hobbs could convert this song to the praise fest that it is. Moving seamlessly to the next track "Glorify Him" Darwin scats, croons, and grooves with a finesse that is magical. He definitely makes this song glorious with the richness of his voice and the jazzy delivery he gives with ease. I only wish the track was longer. The cover songs of "Forever" "I Give You Praise” and the Twila Paris classic "He Is Exalted" showcase the mastery of vocal ability, color and power that has been gifted to Darwin Hobbs. Produced by Hobbs, Houghton, Lindsey, Tommy Simms and Fred Jerkins there was no way that all of these talented men would not present a must have CD. This is a wonderful project and one that does just what the title suggest...shows you the heart of a worshipper whose name happens to be Darwin Hobbs. I Know The TruthShirley Caesar
Can Shirley Caesar rap? Yes she can flow with the best of them! Joined by gospel hip-hop artist Tonex, Caesar's full bodied voice packs a punch on "I Know the Truth" and when she begins to rap she spits out lyrics like nobody's business! If you have listen to any preacher worth his or her merit you will know that a flowing sermon is required from the pulpit. With that being said, why wouldn't Pastor Shirley Caesar not be able to rap? The mix of rap and traditional not only works on this tune but it brings a freshness to it that can't be denied. On the ballad "Touch, Heal and Deliver" Caesar gives us that heart-felt tune that we expect to hear from the lady who embodies compassion. The big church sound is also on this project with the tune "Everything Is Going to Be Alright" which Caesar sings about being Heaven bound. Other notable songs are "Everyday is Like Mother's Day" in memory of her mother and sister and "Jesus Can Fix It" which paints so eloquently the picture that Jesus can solve all of our problems if we just trust Him. Queen Shirley Caesar has done it again, mix the traditional with the non-traditional and offered us a project that is a great mixture. Check out Shirley Caesar at www.shirleycaesar.com
