Is Your Car Ready for Winter?

You have your winter coat, warm hat, gloves and your snow boots. You are ready for winter, but what have you done to make sure your car is snow-ready? Are you still waiting for the big snow fall? If you have been spared, count yourself lucky and get your car ready to stay on the go when snow does arrive.

Winterize your car in one weekend:

Make sure you have adequate antifreeze;

Make sure your tires have good traction and are inflated to the right pressure;

Make sure your heater and defroster are working properly;

Make sure you have a battery that can carry a full charge;

Make sure you have a couple of good ice scrapers.

For family safety keep these items in your car in a compact box:

• A blanket.

• Flashlight, extra batteries and matches.

• Extra clothes so you can keep dry.

• Nonperishable easy open tins of veggies/fruits, chips, candy or power bars.

• Several gallons of bottled water.

• A compass.

• A shovel and kitty litter.

• A tow rope.

• Jumper cables.

Be safe and be warm in your car this winter. But remember to watch out for the other guy, he or she may have not been as diligent as you are about car and family safety.

Hone your skills for work and family and you hone them for living life to the fullest
