You Don't Have to Suffer with Adult Acne
Regardless of what anyone tells you, there are natural and holistic approaches to adult acne that are effective and less costly. Using a natural approach also eliminates the worry of potential damage caused by man-made chemicals and ingredients.
The first and most natural step is taking a good look at your diet. If you want healthy, acne-free skin you should be eating a healthy diet. Eating a diet filled with fried foods, unhealthy oils and fats, like trans or saturated fat and vegetable oil and sugar will have a negative impact on your body as a whole. This type of diet will clog your arteries as well as your pores. A diet full of fruits, vegetables and omega 3s found in fish like salmon, halibut or sardines will nourish your skin and clear your pores.
Tea Tree Oil has been used for centuries for its antibacterial properties. Most over-the-counter products contain benzoyl peroxide. An alternative to this harsh and irritating chemical, tea tree oil is effective, but without any side effects. Although it can be found in a variety of forms, the most effective and common form is the oil itself. Using a piece of cotton, dip it in the oil followed by a dip in water, then apply to the infected area two to three times each day.
Calamine lotion cures the itch, but it works on acne as well, especially cystic acne. Calamine lotion can be found in most grocery or drug stores, is inexpensive and good to have on hand. Using cotton, apply calamine lotion on the blemish, let it dry, remain in place overnight and wash it off in the morning.
Acne is a form of infection. Infections occur when the immune system is weakened and not working properly. Zinc is one mineral that gives your immune system a boost and the extra strength to fight infections. Foods such as pumpkin or sesame seeds, lean beef tenderloin, spinach, mushrooms and swiss chard are excellent sources of zinc.
Having a good skin care regimen is a must and this includes taking care of your skin during the day. Bacteria is transferred in also sorts of ways, but primary through your hands. Keep your hands away from your face and take the extra step of washing your hands before you wash your face. Keep your hair pulled away from your face as well. Be sure to wash in a gentle manner with a gentle cleanser, no scrubbing. Castile soap followed by witch hazel as an astringent is an effective and inexpensive approach.
Acne-free skin can be yours by following a few simple steps and giving your skin a little extra attention.
