Hair Care Company Fights Outsourcing

Guest Author - Lynne Chapman

Hairdressers are traditionally all about people. We work closely with each of our clients and canít help but get to know each one personally. We know their hopes and fears and we share in almost every life event Ė weddings, births, proms, deaths, and divorces, We are there in all of the ups and downs of life. Hairdressers love people.

This is why I am very happy to report on a company in the hair business that is giving back to the people we serve and to the country. The company is Farouk Systems, producer of hair tools, hair care products, hair color, and nail color.

Farouk Systems Helps the Economy

Farouk Systems founder, Palestinian-born hairdresser Farouk Shami built a billion dollar business around his popular line of hair irons including the famous Chi Iron, invented in the late 1990ís. Striking a blow against outsourcing, Farouk Systems has recently brought their manufacturing facilities back from China to Houston, Texas. This brings 1,277 jobs back to the United States.

As a hairdresser who sees the struggles of the people I care about as they deal with shortened working hours and unemployment, Iím happy that the money I spend on products will go to help the US economy.

Farouk Systems Helps in Fort Hood Tragedy

When Farouk founder, Farouk Shami was notified of the shooting at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead and 30 wounded, he put a plan in motion to respond to the tragedy. Farouk executives gathered in the Houston headquarters to make preparation to send care packages to the soldiers, families and hospitals that were affected by the attack. Many of Farouk employees left their jobs assembling hair tools to work to assemble care packages. Farouk Systems care packages and donations sent to the military community and area hospitals totaled more than $1 million.

Besides their hair tools line, Farouk Systems produces these hair care lines.

Farouk Systems Bio Silk is a silk based hair care, styling and finishing product line.

Sunglitz is a hair color and highlighting home maintenance system.

CHI Curl Preserve Systems helps preserve moisture in curly or wavy hair for frizz free curls.

CHI Olive Nutrient Therapy is designed to provide the proper balance ofnutrients using herbs and essential oils.

Lacquer Collection nail color contains no toluene, no formaldehyde and no DBP. It contains ingredients to kill many types of bacteria, CHI 44 Ceramic to give strength and long wear, and silk to give shine and make application easy.
