Cajun Zydeco – Springtime Reunion 2006 Look no further for something to do over Memorial Day weekend. This is truly the dance/music event to enjoy. Set in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley of New York, excitement for the Springtime Reunion is growing. Now located at Tommy's Farm for the 2nd year, this Cajun/Zydeco festival continues the tradition of a close knit reunion of people who love the music and dance of Louisiana. The line up this year is terrific with some old favorites returning and some new favorites joining the party. Look for a return of Roy Carrier, Willis Prudhomme, RiverCity Slim and the Zydeco Hogs, Magnolia, Jesse Lege with Ed Poullard and Al Berard, Lil' Anne and Hot Cayenne. As always one of the talented Ardoin family members will be there. This year it's Dexter Ardoin. Rounding out the schedule are T-Broussard and the Zydeco Steppers. Joining T is his renowned mom, Mary Jane Broussard. Other groups include Cleoma's Ghost and Red Line Zydeco. With a line up like this, you can be sure you will be dancing continuously for the entire weekend. Don't be surprised if you see and hear some awesome collaboration between the artists as we have seen in the past at this festival. The intimate nature of this event begs for a joining together between groups purely for the fun of it. Keep in mind this festival is a privately organized event with no large corporate sponsors and it resembles a wonderful down home community party. Tommy Hahn has opened his heart and home to the Cajun and Zydeco community. Camping is available directly on site in a beautiful bucolic pasture. On the farm are permanent hot showers available for the campers. Throughout the festival, you will see Tommy and his family mingling among the performing artists and dance community. He also generously offers on going hay rides across a part of his 600 acre farm. Springtime Reunion wouldn't exist without the tireless efforts of Pat Laine and Will Toland. For the past 3 years, the two of them have gone out on a limb to keep this Hudson Valley tradition alive against all kinds of challenges. For 2006, they have put together a terrific line up and the party promises to be an unbelievably good time. The year dance lessons will be offered by Laura and Jeremy Rice. If you love to dance but are new to Cajun/Zydeco music and dance, the lessons will get you up on the floor and from there you will find the dance community very welcoming of new comers. Experienced dancers will take you by the hand and coach you as you gain your dance groove. Embrace the sound of this upbeat music and you won't be able to wipe the smile off of your face the entire weekend. Tommy's Farm and Salt Point are easily assessable to music lovers in the Northeast. It draws dancers from all of New England plus NY, NJ, PA. Come and enjoy all there is to offer but mostly come and have fun with old and new friends as we dance to the wonderful sounds of the music from Lousiana.
