The Bastard on the Couch
Guest Author - Colette

Okay, okay, I have to admit that a book titled The Bastard On The Couch, is a really strong title. Before I read the jacket, I just assumed that it was a book filled with male bashing. No problem, on that particular day a little bit of mail bashing seemed in order.

Oh, how wrong I was. Instead, Daniel Jones edited a book where 27 different men dug deep to explain their feelings about love, loss, fatherhood, and freedom. These 27 men ranging from ages 28 to 64 do a pretty good job of telling it how they see it.

When I read Eric Bartel's, section on "My Problem With Her Anger", I could have sworn that he'd installed cameras in my house. Kevin Canty's The Dog In Me, is a brutally honest portrayal of the "boy/man so many married and ex-married women are permanently pissed off at." In addition, there's A Bachelor's Fear by Steve Friedman who describes his aversion to intimacy that makes him sprint whenever things get to good... thank God I don't have to go through that drama anymore.

In essence, Bastard on the Couch pretty much does what it says by giving a bold and unprecedented glimpse into the dark corners and glaring truths of modern day relationships. As such, if you are a woman who often wonders what in the he double hockey sticks he is thinking, this is the book for you.
