Quick and Easy Crochet Ideas For Father's Day
This Father's Day, why not crochet a gift for that special man in your life? It doesn't have to be a complicated project. Here are some quick and easy crochet gifts that you can make in just a few hours.
Neck Warmers and Scarfs
Father's day falls at the beginning of summer, and winter may feel a long way off. But, neck warmers and scarfs still make great gifts and are easy to adapt to your skill level. You can usually make either of these projects with one skein of yarn, so if you have that odd ball skein laying around, use it in this way.
Mitts and Slippers
Finger-less mitts, slippers, and loafers are also another gift which can be appreciated later in the year when fall and winter come along. Keep your dad's hands and feet warm.
Hats, Caps, Beanies
Crocheted hats, caps, and beanies are simple to make and versatile. There are many great free crochet patterns to be had and they can worked up fast in a variety of yarns. Make them in a his preferred fashion colors or his favorite sport's team colors. 100% wool is great for warm hats, but man made fibers such as acrylic can be more durable and machine washable.
There was a time in the 1970s when crocheted ties were popular. Trends come and go, but you can still make a very nice tie with the right yarn and colors and maybe start the trend again. Of course, you can just make the tie for sentimentality's purpose. Ties are relatively quick to make up and don't require a whole lot of shaping. Use novelty yarns or funky striping colors for fun ties or have an ugly tie party.
Lapghans and Pillows
An elderly or invalid man who doesn't get around as well as he used to would probably appreciate a small lapghan to keep him warm or a pillow to nap on or prop himself up on.
If you father like to golf, consider crocheting him a set of golf club covers. Or if he likes to read, how about a quick bookmark?
Choose masculine colors: Greens, blues and browns are excellent colors for men and go with a variety of outfits. Dark reds and golds are also a popular accent choices. Black and white are great neutral colors.
