Matt and Sherry McPherson-Slow Down
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
If the last name of McPherson resonates with you it may be because of the fact that for the last few years the "McPherson" guitar has been recognized as the premier guitar by several top recording artists. Gospel music performers for years the McPherson’s have released their third recording and blessed us all with a project that is heartfelt and full of spirit. Opening with the free wheeling "Slow Down" Matt delivers a lead that is carefree and warm. Pop this track in the pick-up, set your cruise control and just ride. We could all follow the lyrics and slow down and take time to enjoy life. Next up is Sherry with "Because of You" her soft crystallized voice sings of how she can face life and its twist and turns because of God. With its up-tempo and pleasant chords the song transports the listener to a happy place. The entire project has a happy feel to it. Finally the stand out tracks the two ballads "I Felt Him Breath" and "The Salvation Poem" get to the heart of worship in that they both deal with the salvation that only God's presence can provide. The McPherson's serve up a "triple-play" that is worth the listen. Learn more about Matt and Sherry McPherson at www.autumnrecords.com

First Call-Rejoice!

The beauty of a capella harmony is on full display with the latest project from First Call. With a 20 year history in the industry this group proves that their talent is unwavering. Mel Tunney, Bonnie Keen and Marty McCall blend on every track and this project really shines. Opening with "Doxology" the holy spirit is ushered in on the first notes and reaches a wonderful crescendo on the final Hallelujah. Next the is the power-packed "Sing the Mighty Power of God" the pounding lyrics and strong delivery of the tune by First Call allow the song to touch the soul of the listener. Other songs of note are the up-tempo "The Solid Rock" and the ballad "The Lord Bless and Keep You" both worthy tracks.

Sanctus Realthe face of love

This hard hitting, aggressive and soul moving project is rapidly climbing the charts and with one listen it is easy to see why. Leading off with the strong "I'm Not Alright" SR gives us a hard pounding fierce cry for the need of God to strip us down so that we can only cling to Him. Matt Hammitt robustly sings of finding our help in God. On "The Face of Love" one of my favorites on the project, Matt beautifully sings of no one being too lost for God to love. He implores with his wonderful voice for God to give us the grace to change the world and reflect that same love to our fellow man. This is really a beautiful lyric and a wonderful track indeed. There has been some talk about SR not using the name of Jesus or God in their lyrics but who else could they be singing of on a song like "Magnetic"? With lyrics like "How do we explain the source of life, that runs within these veins and keeps my heart in time?" who else could they be singing about? God is life and Sanctus Real displays life in all its glory on this project. Get it and enjoy! Check them out at www.sanctusreal.com
