Extra Large Dolls - Dress Photo and Supplies
Guest Author - Susan Kramer

Here is a list of material and supplies for making dresses to fit approximately 25 inch (62.5cm) dolls, including the Raggedy Ann doll in the photo.

In the photo is my 25 inch Raggedy Ann wearing this dress. Next to her is my 18 inch Raggedy Ann - so you can get an idea of how much larger the 25 inch doll really is. And, let's not forget the cyber doll house dog, "Floppy" in the scene, too. Floppy enjoys getting in the picture with all the dolls and gives you an idea of the different doll sizes.

I like bright colors and contrasting fabrics for variety. Satin ribbon trims make the dress look fancier. I also like cotton or cotton/polyester fabrics for ease of washing. But, if the dress is for a very special occasion satin or velvet make up well, too.

I would rate this an intermediate project. If you've sewn any outfits for yourself like a skirt or vest you'll have enough skills to make this doll dress pattern. If you want some tips on doll making techniques click here for a list of tutorials geared to cloth and fabric dolls and clothing.

Material and Supplies

- You’ll need one third yard (one third meter) of material for the bodice and collar if all one color, plus one-third yard (one-third meter) material for skirt.

- Ribbon Trim: 22 inches for the collar. 15 inches to go around the dress waist. 18 inches for the bow at center front on neckline.

- One half yard bias tape for neckline.

- 2 velcro-type squares for back neck and waistline closure.
