Thankfully it's getting easier and easier for the plus size consumer to find costumes online. Unfortunately I haven't found a wonderful selection of super sizes. A trend I've noticed is that costume dressing seems to be more about being sexy than being scary. I guess we want to be tantalized more than we want to be scared.

Here are my Halloween picks for three categories (sexy, scary, and meek) and where to get them. I tried to choose the companies with the most plus size selections. You will notice some of the stores carry some of the same product. So if you find something you like at one store, be sure to check one of the others to compare prices. The one's listed here are pretty close though.

Halloweenie - I don't know why but this one been one of my favourite stores for years. They carry an assortment of women's and men's plus-size costumes. For sexy costumes I recommend the La Bandida, Red Hot Mama, Spanish Dancer (Flamenca), Sexy Nurse, Mae West and my personal favourite the Geisha. For Scary, try the Widow's Web, Reaper or Devil Fairy. And for the meek try the Flapper, Nun, Aphrodite or Pocahontas (Native American). Sizing: The plus-sizes for men are 48-52 and for women are 18-24.

Buy Costumes - This is a new one for me this year but I was quite impressed with their selection. Read the fine print as the costume may not be all you see. Lots of styles I haven't seen before elsewhere. For sexy, take a look at Saloon Girl, Vixen Pirate, Gangster Moll, Scarlet Witch and Venus. Their scary selection is slim pickings but you should check out the Devil Bride, Gothic Slayer and of course the Wicked Witch. For meek, I loved the Lady Bug, Blue Maiden and Emerald City Guard. The prices vary from $30 to well over $100.

Choice: 104 plus size styles to choose from.
Sizing: 1x/2x and 3x/4x (16-24). Not all costumes come in all sizes and some are only marked "plus" with no numerical number, changes are this is really Queen Size which we all know isn't really plus at all.
Shipping: Ships to the United States and Canada within a week.

Costume Craze - They updated the site this year so it is easier to find the plus size section. They have a lovely banner of plus size cuties too. For sexy, check out the French Maid, Southern Belle and Spanish Senorita. Nothing really I would classify as scary, unless you're like me and hate clowns. The Devil Queen is kind of cool. And in the meek you have Maid Marian, Esmeralda and the combo half Devil/Angel.

Choice: 97 plus size styles to choose from.
Sizing: I'm not happy with their sizing information so check sizing carefully. Many are a size range only, like 14-20. Ignore the sizing chart as the plus sizes are not even on it. Some costumes only go up to 20.
