Darryl Worley - Here and Now

Some artists play formulated music that their labels want, some artists go another direction and sign with labels that listen to the artist and what they have to say. Hence the new release from Darryl Worley “Here and Now” on the new 903 Music label.

From the first track to the last track, it sounds like a party is going on and the fun is just getting started again for this artist, along with some touching songs that will get you right where they are meant to. You might remember Darryl from his hits Have You Forgotten? and I Miss My Friend, but his latest I Just Came Back From a War is rising on the charts and his CD hits stores on November 11. I am lucky enough to have gotten an advance copy to review and let me tell you I love it!

Here are a few thoughts on some of the songs included on this CD:

Jumpin’ Off the Wagon, is a song you can almost hear every artist telling their label. It’s about a label telling an artist what they can and can’t do because it would effect their “image”. There is even a line about “not finding a Worley record on any shelf” that rings true if an artist doesn’t toe the line.

Free is a song that celebrates a man’s freedom from a relationship that didn’t work out. It’s a fun song talking about hanging out with his friends, doing what he wants and answering to no one.

I Just Came Back From a War is the newest release off this CD and is already hitting the charts. The song talks about a soldiers feelings and reactions to a war he just came home from. It could be every soldiers coming home song, how they react to changes at home and the changes within themselves. It could be a sequel to Have You Forgotten that Darryl recorded years ago.
