Snow Days

Snow Days
The infamous snow day is well known here in Canada. It is a day when the whole world is blanketed in white, when the roads are slippery, and it seems like every store possible is shut down. For kids a snow day is something they wish for every night and even add it into their nighttime prayers. Do you remember when waking up to find the sparkling white stuff covering everything thing was almost as exciting as Christmas morning? Why not bring the excitement back into your snow day by trying one (or all) of these simple ideas.

Begin your snow day by turning it into a spa day.Its simple to do just gather up as many yummy smelling candles as you can find (I absolutely love the candles by gold canyon, they have the most amazing smelling candles) set them all around your bath room lighting each of them as you go. Start filling up a steaming hot bath adding your favourite Epsom salt and of course bubble bath. Set up a cd player on the bathroom counter (make sure to put it where it can not fall in the water of course) put in a relaxing cd try using something like Shakira's Latin album or other spa worthy artists. Slide into your bath close your eyes and take in the music and most importantly, relax.

Use the time off to catch up on some reading. Find that book you have been dying to read and curl up on the couch. Make this time even more relaxing for you by put on some background music, try adding some of these songs by great Canadian musicians to your IPOD play list…

Tragically Hip – Wheat kings
Avril Lavigne – I’m with you
Hedley - For The Nights I Can't Remember
Jimmy Swift Band - Beautiful In The Morning
Sam Roberts - Brother Down
Our Lady Peace - Clumsy
Finger Eleven - One Thing
Nickelback - If Everyone Cared
Billy Talent - nothing to lose
Slowcoaster – Leave
Aselin Debison – Life

Invite all your girlfriends over for a night full of chick flicks, choose dvd's like the Proposal (which features the completely drool worthy Canadian, Ryan Reynolds) and The Ugly Truth (starring Katherine Heigl). Before your friends get there make a spread of no fuss finger foods like salsa dip, spinach dip, pita wraps, chicken wings and other goodies. Don’t forget the junk food, make your snow day a “cheat day” as well and load up on popcorn, chips, chocolate, even ice cream. For drinks why not enjoy this snow filled day with a nice hot cup of cocoa (try it with a little shot of kahlua or baileys).

By the time your snow day is over you will be wishing on a star for the next just like you did when you were a kid!
