"What Happens After Death" Book Review "What Happens After Death" Book review. If you've ever wondered "What happens after you die?" then this is the book for you. It is one of the most comprehensive books I have read on the subject of the afterlife from the Islamic perspective. It takes the reader from the moment of death right up to the Day Of Reckoning and beyond. The author, a very learned scholar, Maulana (Teacher) Ashiq Ilahi, quotes heavily from the Quran and Ahadith (Teachings of The Prophet Muhammad - Peace Be Upon Him ) to paint an accurate picture of the bliss awaiting the believers and the torment awaiting the disobedient and the disbelievers in the hereafter. What Happens After Death is certainly not light reading. It's not a book you can read through in an afternoon or one you would like to take with you on a relaxing vacation. It is a book that is best consumed in small amounts and then pondered and contemplated over. What Happens After Death starts off by discussing Barzakh, which is the interval between death and the Day Of Judgment. Both the condition of the pious believers and the disobedient are discussed at length. The punishments for various sins and rewards are described in vivid detail, again relying heavily on authentic sources from The Quran & Hadith (Teachings of The Prophet Mohamed - Peace Be Upon Him ) What Happens After Death also presents a very detailed account of heaven and hell, as well as the events of the Day Of Judgement. The book presents Death as something that a person should not be afraid of provided that he is a believer and strives to uphold the commands of Allah Ta'alah (God Almighty) in his daily life and affairs. Here is a short quote from "What Happens After Death?" on this very topic. "Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik once asked Abu Hizam (Peace Be Upon Him) 'Why are we afraid of death?' Abu Hizam replied 'You are afraid of death because you have decorated the world and desserted the Hereafter; hence you dislike to go to the wildreness leaving the populated and decorated world.' 'You speak the truth indeed!' Sulaiman admitted." What Happens After Death is at once a fascinating, terrifying and inspiring read. I would consider it essential reading for all Muslims and those who wish to make the afterlife more real. It certainly helps you to keep death and the hereafter in the forefront of your mind, and reminds you that life in this world is merely a trial and a test. The book is published by Adam Publishers and is available through various online Islamic booksellers. | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
