Freddie von Eckhardt doesn’t have a care in the world, other than deciding what color nail polish to wear, or what country to jet off to next. Young, beautiful, rich and spoiled, she spends her days (and nights) hitting the club scene, partying, and living it up. She just happens to be a point in her life where she’s looking for something more when Jimmy Cavanaugh appears on the scene.

Handsome and suave, Jimmy is quite the ladies’ man. But even he is a bit surprised at how quickly Freddie lets him into her life, and then introduces him to her circle of friends. Of course, he doesn’t mind - it fits perfectly into his plans. As an added bonus, he’s along for the ride as Freddie cuts a swath through Manhattan's luxurious and decadent social scene.

Freddie is hooked on Jimmy, heart and soul. She even wonders if he is the one. For one so worldly, it’s a wonder she was so easily fooled. Then again, she isn't the only one taken in by the smooth-talker. The heiress has no idea just how much Jimmy is going to change her life.

Things go along quite smoothly for Jimmy, until he makes a major mis-step. His slip means that he has to speed up his timeline, and hope that his luck doesn’t run out.

There were a few minor points that I didn’t like about the book. One was that there are a few dead ends – story lines that went nowhere. For example, a reporter spots Freddie leaving a posh hotel after spending the night with guest. He makes note of the fact for later use, but it’s never mentioned again.

Also, the background of the characters is a bit uneven. The (real) story of Jimmy’s life is brief, while details of another character’s life (Stuart's) run for several pages.

To me, Freddie doesn’t come off as a very sympathetic character. Besides being spoiled, she doesn’t seems very nice. I liked her friend Alex better, and cared more about how Alex fared in the story. I really enjoyed the storyline about Alex and her marriage.

Author R.J. Revaitis keeps the action moving - the entire story takes place over just 12 days. There are also plenty of other characters and running storylines to keep the reader interested. I had a tough time putting Park Avenue Rich down; in fact, I stayed up late one night to finish it.
