Earring Advent Event - Snowflakes

Earring Advent Event - Snowflakes
Snowflakes are natural to graph in peyote or brick stitch because of how easy it is to make hexagons and other 6 pointed shapes in those stitches. On a graph, you mark a hexagon the size you want the finished flake design to be, then connect the corners with lines to form your basic shape. Then you start graphing the top line to where it joins in the middle, using the lines as guides, graph each arm the same way.

Here's the graph I used to graph these.

The pattern.

After I finished the first pair, a friend pointed out that no two snowflakes are alike, so I graphed a different one so I could have matching earrings with two different snowflakes.

Notice how much the difference in finishing techniques and colors made them look.

I wrote an article that has links to a couple different methods for doing brick stitch.
For complete instructions on how to make these kind of earrings, check out Basic Beading- Brick Stitch linked below, as well as the flat odd count peyote article, also linked in related links. The flat odd count article uses the snowflake earrings as an example.
