Flowers and Plants that Hummingbirds Love
Guest Author - Lisa Shea

Hummingbirds enjoy homemade nectar, but they really love fresh flowers and plants. Here are some to add to your garden.

Note that hummingbirds really love red and orange colors, so plan appropriately! Stay away from pesticides. Hummingbirds have tiny bodies and even a small dose can harm them. Try to plan your plantings so that there's a continuous bloom of something.

Flowers:
bee balm
bleeding hearts
coral bells
fuchsia
gladiola
hollyhock
impatiens
morning glory
petunia
trumpet creeper

Bleeding Hearts

Bushes:
azalea
butterfly bush
honeysuckle
hydrangea

Hydrangea Grandiflora

Hummingbird Nesting Materials:
Willow Leaves
Ferns
Moss
