Sweepstaking Fun

There’s no trick to getting more fun out of sweepstaking. There are, however, a few tips that can help if you’ve come to a plateau.

Network

As with any hobby, it is always fun to share your enthusiasm with others. Many areas have contest clubs which can be a fun way to meet new friends and to expand your interest. You can do an internet search to find one near you, or if there are none in your area, you may wish to start one!

Enter Contests with lots of prizes

Part of the fun of sweepstaking is receiving all sorts of fun and unique prizes. This is not necessarily for the monetary value, often it is simply for the sake of having little surprises and gifts arrive in your mailbox! So, if you want to keep the prizes coming on a more regular basis, enter contests that have an abundance of prizes available. Your chances are much greater of winning this way, and even if you don’t win the grand prize, you do have a good chance of receiving something fun.

Be creative

Sweepstaking is a fast-growing hobby for many people from all walks of life, thus creative talents are being used more and more. In fact, believe it or not, it is an art form!

For fun, one can be artistic in designing their own envelopes utilizing leftover Christmas wrapping at this time of year, or wallpaper, or any number of “recyclable” papers one may have around the house. Use a stick-on address label to mail it with, and, Walla!, you have a work of art!

For those who love rubber stamping, time spent decorating your envelopes and entry forms can be a fun way to utilize those creative talents, as well. These can also be great projects to do with the kids, so the whole family enjoys it, from beginning, to win! As always, when using decorative envelopes, be sure to check the contest rules as a few will state to use a plain white envelope or entry form.

This “envelope artwork” reminds me of the practice of Tibetan monks who create intricate mandalas out of sand, then brush the sand together and wash it away with water to teach the impermanence of all things. So, when Sending off a work of envelope art for others to enjoy along its way, remember that it’s not all about the winning, it’s also about the fun you have in getting there!
