Juanita Bynum, Brian Littrell and comedian Thor Ramsey announced the nominations for the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards at a press conference held at the Renainssance Nasville Hotel.
Leading the list of nominations is Chris Tomlin, last year's winner of "Artist of the Year", who received nods once again for Artist of the Year as well as Male Vocalist of the Year and Pop Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. All in all Tomlin received nine nominations. A big deal for Tomlin who is one of the most obsecure artist on the scene...his last project never reached platinum status. However Tomlin's praise and worship songs are often sung at many churches around the country and he was a featured artists for Passion 2007 Conference which was held here in Atlanta.
Next up was Jars of Clay with six and The Crabb Family with five nominations. A bitter-sweet experience for Crabb Family fans since the group is no longer singing together.
Aaron Shust and Leeland both new on the Christian music scene, snatched up five nominations each. Rounding out the five or more nominations picture are; Ed Cash, Ian Eskelin, Nathan Nockels, Otto Price and Wayne Haun all nominated for Producer of the Year.
The Dove Awards will be presented on April 25, 2007 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The awards show will be televised in national syndication in May. Brian Littrell, Natalie Grant and Donnie McClurkin will have co-hosting honors during the program.
