Stranger Things on Netflix
The show takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980’s. The first season contains 8 episodes. The show received so much positive feedback that it was quickly renewed for a second season.
There is a lot of mystery that surrounds a Department of Energy laboratory located in the town. As the series opens, a mysterious creature at the lab kills a scientist. The same creature encounters Will Byers who then vanishes. The missing boy’s three friends Dustin, Mike, and Lucas set out to find out what happened to Will. The boys meet Eleven who has telekinetic powers and escaped from the laboratory.
Eleven is able to communicate with Will who appears to be in another dimension known as, “The Upside Down” with the mysterious creature. Although a boy is found and police identify the body as Will, Will’s mother and friends do not believe Will is dead. After viewing the body, Will’s mom is certain that it is not her son.
Eventually Will’s brother and his friend, along with Will’s mother and the town sheriff set out to kill the mysterious monster and rescue Will. His mother and the sheriff travel through a portal to The Upside Down. In the midst of searching for Will, the boys are helping Eleven hide because scientists from the laboratory are looking for her. They want to catch her and use her telekinetic powers for evil. A big fight ensues and Eleven appears to be killed.
The series ends with Will’s family seemingly happy about his return however it’s evident that he has brought something back with him from The Upside Down.
