One of the most significant and sentimental days in a woman’s life is her wedding day. From the time we are little girls, many of us dream of that day. Marrying the perfect man, and having the perfect wedding. We envision our lovely selves, silk charmeuse gown clinging to our every curve, floating as if on angel’s wings, down the aisle to our handsome husband-to-be, beaming as he awaits his bride-to-be, the most beautiful woman in all the world. The fairytale enchantment of weddings is a poignant reminder that dreams do come true, if only for a day. Oh, but what a day it can be.
Spring is almost here and love is in the air. With romance in full bloom, thousands upon thousands of lovers everywhere in the world are poised to become husband and wife. Brides-to-be, their moms, and often their moms-in-law, and other key players in this heavenly union, excitedly go about the business of planning this most special of occasions at least six months in advance of the big day.
From determining the style of wedding you want, big or small, formal or informal, to setting the budget and date of the wedding, to reserving the ceremony and reception sites and choosing your bridesmaids and flowers, it seems like a million intricate little details must be attended to. Of course, one of the most fun and ultimately rewarding is choosing your gown and jeweled accessories like tiaras, hair ornaments, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, and anklets. After all, everyone who attends a wedding focuses on the bride and how beautiful she looked, often that is the only memory that lingers—(along with how good the food was, of course.)
Decisions, decisions! Whether to pair your Oscar de la Renta gown with diamonds—your Vera Wang with pearls—your Alfred Sung with a matelassé-patterned gold cuff? While Chanel, Cartier, and Harry Winston may be on your Wish List, perhaps they’re not in your budget. But don’t let that tiny glitch dampen your spirits on the day you’re supposed to shine the brightest.
Why not be exquisite in rhinestones? Distinctive tiaras, lavish bun cages, barettes with pizzazz, bracelets and wrist cuffs, pins, anklets, necklaces, earrings, and brooches—glorious rhinestone jewelry and accessories sparkle like there’s no tomorrow and possess the magical power to enhance your beauty. Perhaps it's how you feel when you sparkle. You know what they say about how feeling good makes you look good. Or is it the reflection of the stones upon your skin, in your eyes. Whatever it is, rhinestones work! Rhinestones are also the perfect complement to the finest white, cream, or blush colored silk gown. Bathed in the glow of your rhinestones you will mesmerize him and everyone else who lays eyes upon you.
History of Rhinestones
Rhinestones are a colorless artificial gem made of glass, rock crystal quartz, or acrylic. Rhinestones sparkle like diamonds and were originally a variety of rock crystal gathered from the river Rhine in Germany. In around 1775, rhinestones became very popular when George Frederic Strass, an Alsatian jeweler, discovered that coating the bottom part of the glass with metal powder made them sparkle like diamonds. Rhinestones are called Strass in the German language.
Often associated over the years with showbiz glitz and glamour—think Elvis, Liberace, and Las Vegas showgirls—rhinestones have also earned the respect and loyalty of mainstream costume jewelry lovers throughout generations for their incomparable beauty. Elegant and timeless, rhinestones are indeed excellent diamond simulants, and high quality rhinestones are even capable of capturing the unique glistening effect that real diamonds have in the sun. What a magnificent choice for your wedding day!
