Claiming to be the largest Halloween costume and party supplier on the internet is no small feat but Buy Costumes does it. They have a large array of adult costumes, kid costumes, accessories (make-up, hats, wigs, masks) party supplies, decorations, props, mascot costumes, and pet costumes.

Selection: Buy Costumes does have a huge selection of costumes. There are well over 100 in plus size styles to choose from. The usual pirates and vampires as well as some unique ones like Tracy Turnblad and Edna from Hairspray, Marilyn Monroe, Mermaid, Egyptian Queen, Wilma, Batgirl, Alice and Irish Lass (see sizing).

Sizing: I was disappointed in their sizing. Their size chart lists "plus" as a size and it covers a breast area of 42"-44" and a waist of 35" - 38". After searching through over 80 costumes I came across a few costumes (Tracy Turnblad, Snow White, Little Bo Peep, Malice in Wonderland, Maid Marion, and Sleeping Princess) that had a size listed as 18-22 in the description. I tried using their search feature but it didn't give me any results so if you want to find any of the larger sizes you have to search through each costume in the plus size costume area.

Pricing: The prices vary from $25 to well over $100.

Availability: They ship to the United States and Canada within a week. On the positive side for Canadians they add the duty and taxes on so you don't have to worry about paying for them at the door. On the negative side, they charge a $10 handling fee (hello?) for the "extra expense and time".

Overall Impression: They've renovated the site but I find it quite busy. It's almost as if they felt they had to fill in all their white space which can be over powering when you are searching for information. The handling fee for Canadian customers throws any customer service stars out the window. Some of their plus size costumes were actually modeled by plus size women. Yeah!

Tip: Enter "plus" into the search box to reduce the number of selections you have to search through to find the larger 18 - 22 sizes. It's not fool proof but will save a little time.
