They have entertained us through television and movie theaters for decades. With each new feature the vampire is resurrected. Sometimes he is pure evil and sometimes he's a Private Investigator wanting to do his bit to help out the human race. There's something extremely sexy about vampires, the good and the bad. We've been infatuated with vampires and their offspring since the 1930s when Bela Lugosi first said through his Hungarian accent, "I've come to suck your blood." There are a lot of famous male vampires (two more instantly pop to mind - Blade - Lestat) but not so on the feminine side (come one, does Elvira really count). They seem to be more dinner than the dine-ee.
Luckily, that is not the case when it comes to costumes. There are many different styles of plus size vampire costumes available ranging from seductive to gothic. My favorite is the plus size vampiress (1104186) costume from Buy Costumes for $109. I know, I know, this is definitely one you don't want to spill your dinner on (get it?). It comes with a full length gown and the must have corset, choker and vampire collar. It is available in 2x and 3x. All it needs is some ruby red lipstick and a pair of kick-ass boots (like the corset one from Torrid). If you are looking for something a little less expensive then try Halloweenie. They have an excellent Victorian Vampira, Elvira and Coffin Bride. But you might want to get creative and forgo the traditional black for red. Being a vampire, after all, has more to do with the teeth than the garments. If you are really on a budget, dress in some modern day wear, throw in a pair of teeth and over accentuate your make-up.
Happy blood sucking, divas!
