Sadie Hawkins Day. Nov. 3. Tradition established in the Li’l Abner comic strip in the 1930s by cartoonist Al Capp. A popular occasion when women and girls are encouraged to take the initiative in inviting the man or boy of their choice for a date.

Daylight Savings Time ends; Standard Time resumes. Nov. 4, 2007–March 9, 2008. Many use the popular rule “spring forward, fall back” to remember which way to turn their clocks. Also, it’s time to check the batteries in all smoke alarms in your home.
