Forecast
Hello, and welcome back! Our fall weather is lovely here at last, though I've spent quite a lot of time indoors this week--it's the end of the month, so all the November titles are arriving, and we can scarcely keep up with the boxes of books at work. Here, however, the November books are a little slower in arriving, so I've put a considerable dent in them with my reading already. This time out, I have another debut author to share with you.

Forecast (Lovespell) by Jane Tara stars Rowie Shakespeare, renowned in her neighborhood for her uncannily accurate weather forecasts each day. Of course, Rowie is just the latest in a long line of witches and psychics in the Shakespeare family over the centuries. One of her other abilities is that when she kisses a man, she can see his true love. Makes for difficult dating. She hopes for the day when she kisses a man a sees nothing so she'll know he's the one for her. But in the meantime, she just wants something different than the future her grandmother has planned for her: running the family metaphysical shop in NYC's Village. Sure, there are customers who're like family, but she want to test her wings elsewhere. And when Drew Henderson, the city's hottest weatherman, is seriously injured, she happens to be in the right place at the right time to step into his weather slot while he recovers. Sure, she knows it's temporary, but it's exciting. And so is Drew, who's actually not all that thrilled when he learns about the psychic part of her weather skills, but even he has to admit it's a great gimmick that'll keep his viewers watching until he can come back. And he can also admit he'd like to see Rowie even after he resumes his job. This is a great debut (there've been several of those in the last month or so, luckily for romance readers!), filled with interesting characters with family issues many of us have also faced, and with just the right amount of humor. Ms. Tara is off to a great start, and I'm looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next. This one's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
