Candle magic is an easy way to begin learning to do magic. It is also a great way to increase your meditation skills.
There are colors that correspond with specific intents that can help you focus your energy:
Red for health, strength and energy
Orange is for stimulating and good luck
Yellow is for creativity, imagination and memory
Green is for fertility and abundance, good luck and harmony
Blue is for inspiration and wisdom, devotion and protection
Purple for wealth and psychic ability
White for spirituality and to bring peace. I use this for calming and centering
Silver for intuition and inspiration
Pink for love and romance
There is no one right way to perform candle magic. There are no set rules but the more comfortable you are in the ritual, the more meaningful the spellwork will be.
Find a candle that has the color of your intent. Use a candle that has never been burned before. I often find smaller candles in hobby shops and craft stores. Unscented ones are what you are looking for. You can also find wonderful hand made and hand scented candles online.
You can carve your spell intent onto the candle. This may help you focus and will increase your spell's strength. Rub the corresponding oil on to the candle while you visualize your spell.
After you complete your candle ritual, let the candle burn away. Do not blow it our pinch it out and do not use that candle for any other purpose. This is why I choose to find short, thin candles. Of course, you are burning in a safe, fire proof area and although you do not have to watch the candle the entire time, keeping an eye on it for safety is a good idea.
Meditation is something that I am always recommending to anyone who is trying to find their spiritual path. Using candles to help focus our meditations is a simple and effective way to practice.
Find a peaceful, quiet area to practice meditating. Light the candle of your choice and sit in a comfortable position where you can remain for at least 10 minutes uninterrupted. Focus on the candle's flame while clearing your mind of any outside influences. This is not as easy as it sounds as we often have many distractions that our busy minds block out. Once you actually sit and listen to the sounds around you, it seems that there is noise coming from everywhere!
Practice focusing on the flame and calming your mind until you can remain relaxed and centered throughout the entire time period. Try to set aside this time every day to meditate and clear your thoughts. If you find that you enjoy this sort of technique, candle magic may be the perfect fit for you.
